The FDA laid an eye on the product when it became linked to several cases of liver damage and the death of a young boy in 2007. They are still looking for the ingredients that are responsible for the tragedy, but Hydroxycut has had so many types and variants over the years, the formula has changed so many times that it is extremely hard to isolate the ingredient they are interested in. Manufacturers have developed ephedra-free variants, too. Recently, Hydroxycut was advertised as being made from natural ingredients, so it gets complicated to track down the evildoer. Since there are no clear restrictions related to the product, a large variety of customers are using it, starting from body builders to average people of all ages.
